Design Guide

An essential Guide to ensure the spirit of the Settle Carlisle Line lives on.

The whole of the line was designated as a Conservation Area in 1991. Lack of investment over the years left a fortunate legacy of buildings and structures that were close to their original ‘as built’ condition. We needed a structured approach to restoration to achieve a balance between conservation and the need to run a modern railway. Hence the idea for the Design Guide was born. You can find a copy here.
