Free Event: Wednesday, 29th July
Ribblehead Quarry is a disused limestone quarry located within the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve. It is currently teeming with life from enormous lilies, an abundance of tiny frogs, a drying waterfall covered by lichens and a huge variety of wild flowers and ferns being enjoyed by butterflies, moths and dragon flies.
Join our Limestone Botany event which starts at 11am at the visitor centre with a botanical art exhibition (11.00 -3.30) from Leeds artist Selina Thorp, a history of the quarry and the viaduct story.
The Limestone Botany walk leaves at 12.30 (meet in station yard) finally reaching the longhouse remains with spectacular viaduct views.
The full walk is under 4 miles at a leisurely pace but requires walk boots and clothing. Return to the visitor centre at approximately 3.30 for trains home. The visitor centre cafe is open 9am to 4pm.
Something for everyone. Looking forward to seeing you all.
