We have two great little shops on the line at Appleby and Settle as well as an online webshop. Both shops are delightfully situated on the station platforms, each one easily accessible by train, car or on foot and have a relaxed “Old-World” feel about them.
Each shop sells a range of detailed maps and walking booklets – aimed at the avid walker and stroller alike. Books range from Thomas the Tank Engine for younger enthusiasts up to books focussing on iconic trains and many covering the history and stories related to the Line. A huge selection of second-hand railway-related books are also available.
There are many gifts and souvenirs to choose from, ranging from Engine Driver hats and teddy bears to train-themed jigsaws, T-shirts, hoodies and headwear for adults, lots of our stock sporting the “Settle-Carlisle” logo. We have a range of lovely model kits available depicting buildings along the line and cards for all occasions!
Grab a refreshing cold drink or a warming hot one whilst browsing the many items on offer? Or enjoy an ice cream whilst sitting on a bench on the platform.
Our friendly volunteers love it when people pop in for a browse and a chat, visitors from as far away as Australia! They enjoy sharing their knowledge of the Line and its locality so please do call in.
