Gruesome Tales from the Rails Event SECOND DATE 31st October

NEW DATE ADDED …  Gruesome Tales from the Rails – Saturday October 31st at 1pm

Local author and historian Sarah Lister from Settle Graveyard Project will be entertaining guests with some of the darker and more gruesome stories linked to the history of the line, the construction, workers and some of the juicy goings on in those shanty sites and navvy huts. Two ghostly navvy wives will discuss their memories and are joined by coroner from the time Thomas Parkinson Brown to help them understand what happened.

The event is a ‘light hearted look’ at the darker side but is not recommended for children under 12 or those who might find the Victorian newspaper style sensationalist reporting and sometimes quite graphic descriptions of deaths, injuries and accidents that occurred upsetting.

Tickets cost £12 and this entitles the holder entrance to the event and a soup and a sandwich lunch.

Guests who buy tickets will be contacted by the team after purchase to check for dietary requirements and pre-order for lunch.
